The vision of the Tubman Nature Center is to provide fun outdoor learning and play opportunities for people of all ages.
Our center’s guiding principles are:
- Children and adults benefit physically and mentally from time to explore nature through unstructured self-directed play in nearby natural spaces.
- Nature is God’s creation. Interacting with nature is a spiritual gift.
- Generally, plants and animals are resilient and can adapt to careful, natural human play.
- Learning to respect nature and others improves our well-being, the wellness of others, and Earth as a whole.
- Caring adults who share a love for the natural world can inspire a sense of awe and wonder in children.
- "Unstructured” does not mean unsafe.
